Do we feel prepared to play our part in the mission that God has given us to the people of Dundas and Telopea? In August we are going to offer some training in different aspects of sharing our faith in Jesus with other people.
This training will be modelled on some of the ways Jesus prepared his disciples for their part in his mission. In Matthew’s gospel we are told how when Jesus saw the crowds he had “compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36, NIV). Jesus responded to this need by urging his disciples to pray to God: “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:38, NIV). Jesus then made the disciples the answer to their own prayers by sending them out to continue his work.
The three week training course (on Wednesday evenings from 20th same elements: We will pray urgently for God’s work in our area, there will be practical training in four areas of sharing our faith in Jesus: giving a short talk, sharing our testimony, helping on Christianity Explored courses and walk-up evangelism. We hope that there will be something that will help us all to feel a bit more prepared. Please look at the invitation enclosed in this bulletin and register your interest with the church office.
