Forgiveness and Peace

16/12/2015 by Alistair & Sarah Seabrook

On November 25 it was White Ribbon Day. A day to stand against Domestic Violence. A day to face the reality that this year, 78 women have died at the hands of their partners and that 70, 000 men have AVOs out against them. Australia, according to ABC journalist Sarah Ferguson, is in crisis. We are in disgrace. Men don’t know how to treat women and children decently and as a society we have turned a blind eye for too long. Australian families are living in the dark.
December 25 is Christmas Day.
A day to mark when the world was brought face to face with its Creator. The day when ‘God from God, light from light’ entered our world as a vulnerable baby.  It’s a day when we can pause to see reality from God’s perspective and see that yes, we are indeed in the dark and have turned a blind eye to a great many things for too long. But God came to us. God is with us now and has shown us the way home. The Bible tells us people love the darkness and our society certainly reflects that truth. But Jesus came as LIGHT into our darkness.
Men need a Saviour. Women need a Saviour. Our families need Jesus. In Dundas and Telopea this Christmas, we will offer hope, healing, forgiveness and peace in the Saviour Jesus. We are offering a new home and permanent place of safety. Who are you going to bring along to hear that offer?
