When was the last time you invited someone to church? Lent (the forty days before Easter) has traditionally been a time for Christians to examine themselves and remember our need for Jesus to save us from our sin and its consequences. As John writes in his first letter, “If anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defence, Jesus Christ, the righteous one. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2) Everyone needs the salvation only Jesus brings and so this month we will be stepping out to invite our five closest neighbours to Jesus Brings guest services running at church throughout April. These services will explore some of the blessings Jesus brings and encourage us all to respond.
We will also be inviting young people from the area to join us for the Ambassadors Soccer Camp that is running in the first week of the school holidays. This is going to be a great four days of excellent soccer coaching and challenging Christian teaching for those who come along. The camp is open to boys and girls aged 7-12 years old of all playing abilities. For more details go to www.soccercamps.org.au
As we make these invitations please pray that God will use the Jesus Brings events and the soccer camp to bring people from Dundas and Telopea to new life in Jesus.
