Our church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ. In the Parish Challenge we talk about this as wanting to play our part, by prayer and proclamation, in God’s work of bringing people to new life and continual growth in Christ. God’s work knows no limits and people are coming to new life and continual growth in Christ wherever the gospel is preached.
Next month (October) we will be hosting Chenny Thie at church as she prepares to leave Australia for ministry in Japan with the Church Missionary Society. During Chenny’s time with us we will get to know her better, hear about the work God is already doing in the lives of people in Japan and learn about how gospel poor the Japanese people are. This time with Chenny will enable us to partner with her more effectively and support her in prayer in the next few years.
Lifting our eyes to see the work that God is doing in the world is not only an encouragement to the Christians overseas but helps us to see the people from all nations that God has brought into our neighbourhood. Our support of mission overseas is not an extra interest us, it is right at the heart of what our church exists for. The God who is working to bring people in Japan come to new life in Jesus also wants us to play our part in his work in Dundas and Telopea. With him, we long to see people we know come to Jesus too.
